From KELOLAND News:

“Hey, it’s a great night in South Dakota,” U.S. Senate-elect Mike Rounds said to supporters following an introduction from his new partner in the Senate, John Thune.

After a hotly contested U.S. Senate Race, Republican Mike Rounds wins a majority of votes in a four-man race. In his victory speech, Rounds thanks South Dakota voters and says he's ready to get to Washington.

Rounds thanked his family, staff, and volunteers, in addition to challengers Rick Weiland and Larry Pressler.

"You never take anything for granted at all. You always work until the very end. You do every single campaign that way, and you never stop," Rounds said. "If you do it correctly, if you've got your team laid out, if you've got your strategy done, and you're on the right side of the issues, things will work out in the end."

Rounds referenced the election of Ronald Reagan, elected U.S. President exactly 34 years ago in the fall of 1980.

“Ladies and gentlemen, America is not broken. America’s greatest days are ahead of it, I believe it, the next generations coming along can build upon what we have today,” Rounds said. “Tonight was a marvelous stepping stone. Let’s truly take back our country; let’s build upon it. Let’s believe in the America that Ronald Reagan shared with us.”
