Gov. Mike Rounds today announced that he’s received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association as a candidate for the United States Senate.

“We can count on Mike Rounds to stand up for our constitutional freedoms in the U.S. Senate,” said Chris W. Cox, Chairman, NRA-Political Victory Fund. “On behalf of the NRA’s five million members, I want to thank Mike for his steadfast support of the Second Amendment and urge all NRA members, gun owners and sportsmen in South Dakota to vote Mike Rounds for U.S. Senate on November 4.”

The NRA also supports Gov Rounds because he doesn’t support universal background checks.

"I’m pleased to accept this endorsement. The defense of our second amendment rights is very important to the citizens of South Dakota. The continuation of our hunting traditions, personal protection interests and shooting sports are all dependent on a vigilant defense of this very important American right,” said Gov. Rounds. “I appreciate the continued efforts of the NRA to bring attention to and defend against the many threats to our right to keep and bear arms.”
