Dick Wadhams Named General Consultant

Pierre, SD (May 22, 2013) – Today, the Rounds for Senate campaign announced that Dick Wadhams has been retained to serve as the general consultant for the campaign.  Wadhams is best known in South Dakota for his role in helping guide John Thune to an upset victory over Tom Daschle in 2004.

Wadhams, a GOP veteran, has also served as Colorado’s Republican Party Chair from 2007-2010 and has managed multiple and highly contested U.S. Senate races.

“We’ve said from the beginning that our campaign will be prepared to take on all comers,” stated Mike Rounds, “Dick’s reputation as a battle tested strategist, coupled with his insight into South Dakota’s political landscape make him the perfect complement to our team. We’ve been considering individuals to fill this role for months and we continued to come back to Mr. Wadhams. The reality is outside interests are already trying to influence South Dakota voters.  We are prepared to counter their attempts to manipulate this race.”

“During my time in South Dakota, I was very impressed with Governor Rounds’ leadership and political instincts,” said Dick Wadhams, “Make no mistake, national interests will attempt to steal this seat away from South Dakotans. It’s an honor and privilege to help Mike and his team, defend and promote his good name and record of accomplishment. The U.S. Senate desperately needs more just like him.”
