From the Capital Journal:

As the legislative session officially began on Tuesday, U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rounds held an open house at his Pierre office.

The leading Republican candidate in terms of fundraising, Rounds greeted several lawmakers and citizens who visited the local campaign headquarters.

Campaign officials said as many as 100 visitors stopped by the office to meet with the former governor through the day. The Pierre visit offered a travel break for Rounds, who is scheduled to go through Philip, Rapid City, Hot Springs and Custer this week.

“There’s no stopping.” Rounds said. “We’ve got 14 months behind us and a lot of the groundwork is done.” Rounds has used the opportunity to garner support throughout the state, he said.

Rounds will be back in Pierre on Friday, when he will host a fundraiser. Rounds is the leading fundraiser in the ongoing senate race. Since announcing his candidacy in 2012, Rounds has raised more than $2.1 million, the Capital Journal reported last week.
