Campaign season is a crazy time in South Dakota; the media and the various political parties are obsessed with the squabbles and disagreements that separate us. The truth is, we’re South Dakotans first, and there is much more that unites us than separates us. For that, I’m truly grateful and blessed to be a South Dakotan. Our campaign continues to focus on the issues. It’s important to me that you understand my positions – and yes – it’s also important to understand the positions of our opponents; after all, that’s what it’s really about.

Rounds Op Ed: The Balance of Power in the U.S. Senate Impacts You

We all know it – the Harry Reid led U.S. Senate is dysfunctional. They aren’t doing the people’s business. Yet, they are finding the time to push through Obama’s judicial nominees. And, that should concern us all – especially in the manner in which they’re doing it. Since Harry Reid, the current majority leader, changed senate rules last fall, the liberal Obama Democrats have streamlined the confirmation of dozens of new Obama endorsed judges. They’ve managed to exploit and benefit from the very dysfunction they’ve created. Unfortunately, we’ll pay the price - as these new judges will serve lifetime appointments.

Republicans Closing in on South Dakota Senate Seat

From Fox News: There’s no such thing as a sure thing in politics -- but for Republicans, South Dakota’s open Senate seat is as close as it comes. Republican candidate Mike Rounds has maintained a substantial lead in the race for the seat being vacated by Democratic Sen. Tim Johnson, a big part of the party's designs for taking control of the Senate next year. Rounds is a fixture in South Dakota politics – having served two terms as governor and before that as majority leader in the state Senate.
